findyourblock.nyc ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered neighborhood quiz for New York City. This policy explains what data is collected when you use the site, how it is used, and your rights over that data. We've written this in plain language — if something is unclear, email us at info@findyourblock.nyc.
findyourblock.nyc does not require registration and does not collect your name, email address, or any other directly identifying information.
When you take the quiz, your answers are sent to the Anthropic Claude API to generate follow-up questions and a neighborhood recommendation. These quiz responses may include personal preferences, lifestyle details, and budget information that you choose to share. This data is processed by Anthropic in accordance with their privacy policy (see Third-Party Services below) and is not stored by us beyond your active session.
We assign an anonymous session ID (stored in a browser cookie named fyb_visitor) to recognize returning visitors. This ID contains no personal information and is retained for up to one year.
We use Google Analytics to collect aggregated, anonymized usage data such as pages visited, session duration, and approximate location (country/city level). We use Google Ads to serve advertisements. These third-party services may collect additional data as described below.
We use the following types of cookies:
You can opt out of personalized ads from Google at any time via adssettings.google.com or the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out tool at aboutads.info/choices.
We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle data:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic Claude API | AI quiz generation & neighborhood recommendations | anthropic.com/privacy |
| Google Ads / AdSense | Advertising & monetization | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google Analytics | Usage analytics | policies.google.com/privacy |
If you are located in the European Union, European Economic Area, or United Kingdom, the following applies.
Legal basis for processing. We process quiz answer data under the legal basis of legitimate interest (to provide the core service you requested). Google Ads cookies require your prior consent under EU law — a consent banner should be displayed before advertising cookies are set for EU/UK visitors.
Your rights. You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold; to restrict or object to its processing; and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@findyourblock.nyc. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the following rights:
Note: Google Ads may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information under CCPA through the use of third-party advertising cookies. You may opt out of this via Google's settings or by using a browser that blocks third-party cookies.
Anonymous session records (quiz completion status, no personal details) may be retained for up to 12 months for internal analytics. Quiz answer content is not stored by us after the session ends — it is processed in real time by Anthropic's API and discarded. Visitor cookies expire after 1 year.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
